Founded in 1981, CIDIL (the Interprofessional Dairy Produce Documentation and Information Centre) is a subsidiary of CNIEL (the National Dairy Economy Interprofessional Centre) which represents dairy stockbreeders (the National Dairy Producers Federation), dairy processing co-operatives (The National Cooperative Dairies Federation) and private sector processors (the National Milk Industry Federation).
Its action is collective. It is independent from companies and brands. It runs informational and promotional campaigns targeting journalists, teachers and their pupils and agribusiness professionals.
The many media used to publish information include books, booklets, fact files, informational and advertising campaigns, conferences and exhibitions, web sites, etc.
Additionally, the Dairy Interprofessional Association was selected by the European Union, the Livestock Office and Dairy professionals via the CNAOL to run informational and promotional campaigns in favour of Dairy Origin Labels and "Protected Origin Label" schemes. This is why the CIDIL is an official sponsor of the second edition of the International Cheesemongers Contest
