Sirha is growing internationally

Upcoming events you cannot afford to miss

From the day it was created, Sirha has strived to become THE catering tradeshow.

To the extent that, over the years, it has become the show you cannot afford to miss if you are working in this field. Sirha is the place where world catering trends of the future originate.

Sirha’s success is well earned and is growing internationally, thanks to its unrivalled offering and source of inspiration, the trends that are created before your eyes, the ideal forum it provides for sharing ideas and experience, and the fact that it is an exceptional stage where the most prestigious international culinary competitions take place.

AN ORIGINAL and successful RECIPE

The show welcomes more than 2000 exhibitors and brand names (including 450 from outside France), 6000 chefs from more than 120 countries… All the tastes, trends and know-how from the entire world meet at Sirha.

What makes Sirha so special? The “live” presentations and tasting sessions, with the Chefs being the best ambassadors of the latest products and kitchenware on show. Every day, more than 1200 presentations take place at Sirha, and visitors are given the opportunity to touch, taste and test whatever is on offer. It creates an unbelievably varied choice of sneak previews for chefs, purchasers, wholesalers and decision-makers from the catering and hotel trade from around the world, gathered for this exceptional business meeting.

Sirha is also committed to the challenges of the 3rd millennium. It acts as a forerunner, attentive to consumer needs and their changing demands. Indeed, Sirha kick-started a reflection process about nutrition with the world’s leading specialists, in particular by organising the pleasure-led "Catering and Nutrition” international conference.

Finally, thanks to the major international competitions that it has created, Sirha has rightly become an exceptional scene where outstanding talents and tastes from the whole world are placed in the limelight. Such was its success that the competition had to be modified by creating continental pre-selections, in order to allow more countries to enter the Bocuse d’Or and the Pastry World Cup, and to keep raising the level of these competitions.

A UNIQUE RECIPE THAT HAS INSPIRED OTHERS

  • From 17 to 19 March 2010, Gourmet World Shanghai (China) will host the Asian Bocuse d’Or for the second time. Chef Otto Weibel will head the jury that will crown the best Asian candidates who will then be entitled to battle it out as Asian representatives in the Lyon finals in 2011. Moreover, Gourmet World Shanghai has become a unique opportunity to showcase European products on the increasingly important Asian market.

  • After Norway in 2008, it is Switzerland’s turn to host the European leg of the Bocuse d’Or, in the context of the Gourmet show on 6, 7 and 8 June 2010. Chef Philippe Rochat will head the jury that will choose the best candidates to be Europe's representatives at the Bocuse d’Or in 2011.

The development of Sirha and of its prestigious gastronomy competitions is only possible thanks to the help from the various national branches of the Bocuse d’Or.
